The decision was taken after it was found that the state government has failed to provide adequate security arrangements to Mr Modi during his visit to Brigade Parade Ground on 5 February.

Claiming that his party “does not have full faith in the state police,”  BJP state  president  Mr Rahul Sinha said the party has “decided to take control of Modi’s security.”

He also added that the police’s action was politically motivated and they act according to the instructions of the top bosses of the state government” he added.
Senior officials of the state unit of BJP added that Mr Modi will hold a public meeting at Khaprail Maidan on 10 April around 10.30 am . He will arrive at the Maidan on a chartered flight, accompanied by 100 police force, who will fly from Gujrat to take care of Mr Modi’s security. After attending the rally around  11 am he will fly to Jharkhand.

Sources in the state government added they had already intimated the district magistrates and superintendent of police to provide adequate security cover during his arrival. Around 40 policemen from West Bengal Police will be sent to Siliguri soon for providing adequate security cover to Mr Modi.

A senior official of the state home department added they have instructed the DM’s and SP’s to intimate them whether they require more police officers for security purpose, but till now they have not given any report of deployment of extra police force for  Mr Modi’s security.

The issues that will be highlighted in the public meeting of Mr Modi includes ~state government’s failure to provide law and order situation in the state, corruption in the SSC Teachers Eligibility Test(SSC -TET) and the Saradha scam. The ruling party, Trinamool Congress, has already conducted various rallies in different districts  which  Mr Sinha dubbed as a “show of strength”  He said CPI-M’s rally would be a proof of its existence, “while ours is for building a new government and nation.”
