In a major setback for the GJM in the Tarai region, 16 Morcha supporters along with Panighatta-Lohagarh zonal committee president Jitman Tamang left the party today and joined GNLF. The new members were welcomed into the party fold at a special programme in Panighatta Bazaar. The party’s Kurseong committee convener Nima Lama, spokesperson Daya Dewan along with leaders Pradip Chettri and Paras Gurung among others gave a grand welcome to the members and presented them party flags.

Nima Lama said GNLF main objective currently is its demand for the implementation of Sixth Schedule and with the addition of new members the party’s stand has become even stronger. He also clarified GNLF only supported TMC for the elections, even if it loses the GNLF will stand firm on its demand. He also said the demand and dreams of the people of Darjeeling can only be fulfilled by the able leadership of GNLF supremo Subhash Ghisingh.
