Husband Arrested for Beating Wife to Death in Ghoom

Darjeeling: The Jorebunglow police has arrested 35 year old Tashi Bhutia on the charges of murdering his wife, he has been sent to 11 days of judicial custody.

The victim Danima Bhutia had been married to the accused for the past 12 years, and they even have a son aged 11. On 7th of June the accused Tashi called the victim’s sister Lakki and informed her that Danima was no more.

Lakki immediately left for Ghoom and on arrival she found that Tashi was preparing for Danimas last rite, following the tradition while bathing her dead sister Danima with Titepati, Lakki noticed that there were numerous cuts, bruises and wounds all over Danima’s body.

This triggered Lakki’s suspicion as Tashi had a reputation of being a very abusive husband, and she asked the victims son – who narrated this horrifying story.

Tashi had beaten up Danima all night long.

On coming to know about this, Lakkim immediately filed a police complaint, following which Tashi was immediately arrested by the police. The police have informed that during interrogation Tashi has confessed to beating Danima out of anger for her refusal to give him – believe it or not – a mere Rs. 3000
