Two Gorkha hill boys to participate in national kickboxing championship

Two young kickboxing champions from Panighatta, Shiv Gurung and Sachin Tamang, are set to participate in a national-level kickboxing championship in Jammu and Kashmir. The tournament will start on June 22 and will run till June 27. The duo interacted with media persons hear before heading for Kashmir and thanked their coach Bishal Rai and the principle of Rainbow English School for their support.

Shiv and Sachin said they aim to perform well in the tournament and become the national champions in their respective categories. They said the event in Kashmir is a perfect platform to showcase their talent and pave way for international level competitions. The duo has been participating in various events together and have won numerous medals together. Sachin has won six gold medals and one bronze medal at state-level tournaments, while Shiv has won five gold and one silver medal. The duo has requested the people of the hills to pray for them for their victory.

Shiv’s parents RB Gurung and Ratna Gurung and Sachin’s parents Raju Tamang and Sang Maya Tamang are proud of their wards and are confident of them winning the championship. The duo along with six other contestant from both girls and boys division left for Kashmir today, led by Siliguri Kickboxing Association in-charge Bishwanath Rai.
