The tripartite meeting involving the central and state governments and the GTA is being held in Darjeeling for the first time.

“Apart from issue of non-transfer of departments (from the state to the GTA), we will be raising the delay in the formation of subordinate selection board, college service commission and school service commission,” said a Morcha source.

The GTA is also likely to raise the demand for the implementation of three-tier panchayat system in the hills and seek increase in the special financial package to the hill body.

Officials from the Union home ministry (state-centre relations) and state home secretary Basudeb Banerjee might attend the meeting.
