Jammu, Mar 17: The President of Gorkha Sabha, Jammu strongly criticized the partial attitude of Chief Election Officer, Jammu for keeping the Ward No: 48 as reserve for SC whereas Ward No: 47 kept open for JMC elections. In a press conference held today, it was alleged that although the objections were submitted to the Chief Election Officer, Jammu against reserving Ward No: 48 for SC saying tht in the year 2003 , the ward No: 23 was bifurcated into wards i.e. Ward No: 47 earmarking upper side of road leading to Bahu Fort and Ward No: 48 below the road in which Gorkha Nagar, Poonchi Mohalla, University, Masjid Mohalla and backside of Bagh-e-bahu and adjoining area of Boria Plant.
He said that in the recent notification Ward No: has been declared as reserved for SC where there are hardly SC/ST voters which was manipulated by adding majority of SC/ST voters of Ward no: 47 for adjusting in ward No: 48, he alleged. He warned the authorities to desist from creating such disturbances amongst the public for their petty vested interests. The Sabha appealed the authorities that ward No: 48 be kept for general category instead of reserved for Scheduled Castes.
