Didi will see creation of Gorkhaland, Gurung to quit GTA post April 17

Darjeeling April 15: Already on a thorny bush the relation between Mamata Banerjee and Bimal Gurung, the GJM chief Tuesday pushed the same a step further with his vitriolic attack. The latest tirade that Gurung threw to make the Bengal chief minister more furious was when he said, “The hill people will eat what they want to eat. Gorkhas cannot be fed with whatever she wants. We will eat what we wish for”.

Addressing a packed jam crowd who had come to hear GJM backed BJP candidate S.S. Ahluwalia on Tuesday Gurung claimed that Gorkhaland will be created sooner or later. “Whenever she comes here she cries Banga Bhanga Hobena, but we will create Gorkhaland and Didi will witness this,” the hill leader added announcing to leave the GTA chief post after April 17.

Gurung admitted that there have been some mistakes in the past. “We will have no more strikes here. I accept that there have been some mistakes and people have suffered. If there will be any strike further it will be in Delhi and like Ahluwalia we will stay in Delhi to protest for Gorkhaland,” he asserted appealing the people to vote for BJP. “There has been a huge loss due to bandhs but i will recover that by uplifting the hills,” he added.

On the other side, Mamata Bannerjee has during her campaign rallies in the constituency said that the GJM will have to face the music after the polls. She has blamed the GJM for not co-operating while selecting the candidates for the Darjeeling seat after which she was forced to field Bhaichung Bhutia, the former star Indian soccer player. Mamata considered being more experienced than Gurung in politics earlier used the divide and rule politics to garner support from the Lepchas and Tamangs this poll.

The relationship between the two leaders reached into a thorny bush after the GJM choose to back Ahluwalia, the BJP nominee for reasons that the party would come to power at the centre and that the demand for Gorkhaland will get prominence.
