Shri Narendra Modi in his historic speech in Siliguri said “The dream of the Gorkhas is my dream also”.
In his speech he clearly stated that “The Gorkhas have not being able to get their due so far and which the BJP will give them when it comes to power at the Centre.”
He said that entire Himalayan region must be developed separately and Darjeeling must be developed like Sikkim, Uttarkhand and Himachal Pradesh.
A separate Development board will also be constituted for the entire Himalayan Region including Darjeeling.
Shri Narendra Modi ji said that it was unfortunate the earlier Government never gave our Everester, Tenzing Norgay the high respect that was due to him.
Darjeeling Tea and Tourism will be given special focus by coming BJP Government.
Mr Narendra Modi was welcomed by a crowd of more than 2 lakhs mostly from Darjeeling and Siliguri Terai Region. Still, thousands of Morcha supporters could not make it to the venue because of heavy traffic Jam in Darjeeling More and Garidhura Area.
